Copy right and intellectual property notions are hairy, ambiguous, and impossible to regulate. Several times in my life people have dishonestly taken an image of mine they like, and returned with a tattoo. It always gives me a nauseating collision of mixed feelings, both extreme flattery and inflaming violation. I can't say that people who ask to do it inspire any less nausea, just guilt for feeling it. I don't know what to make of it; should I be proud and enjoy the flattery and advertising (which there is arguably little since the image is not likely to ever be associated with myself) or should I feel taken advantage of.. and ultimately underpaid. What do you think?
